13 Reasons 2013 Was a Great Year For Iowa Music

A terrific article by Nate Logsdon (Ames Out Loud) who touches on the success of the Iowa music scene over the past year.

"Cedar Falls music scene hits its stride

One of the brightest spots in the Iowa scene this year was Cedar Falls. Anchored by killer rock and pop acts like Twins, Har-di-Har, Dylan Sires &the Neighbors and John June Year and supported by local-music-friendly clubs like The Hub and The Octopus, Cedar Falls built a strong reputation across the state this year.”

Afterhours Session #44 - Brick Breaker
"The patio was the perfect spot for John June Year, an indie pop powerhouse out of Cedar Falls, Iowa. The band seemed the type to be comfortable playing at big venues or, in our case, backyard barbeques–sporting easy-going guitar riffs wrapped around smooth vocals and succulent synth hooks." - Ben Handler of Afterhours Sessions

Last Night: DES MOINES

Had an incredible time last night at The Gas Lamp in Des Moines! Our friends Dylan Sires and Neighbors joined us to help support Bright*Giant with their live CD release party. Mint and Holy White Hounds both made celebrity appearances as well. So many great rock bands all in one place. Thanks so much, Des Moines!
